ABOUT US

AVA LYNNE

At 20 weeks pregnant, Lynne and Ryan learned that their soon-to-be first child was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus. Ava Lynne was born on October 1, 2008, and was soon transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital where she underwent corrective heart surgery. After three months of loving care, “Ava the Brava” lost her struggle to improve and passed on January 4, 2009.

THOMAS JOHN

Four years later, again while pregnant, Lynne and Ryan were told that their second child shared the very same congenital heart defect as Ava. Thomas John, or TJ as he quickly became known, was born on January 22, 2013, in Boston and also underwent heart surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital. Although he thrived following surgery and was sent home after one month, he passed suddenly on March 22, 2013, from complications.

The Two Tiny Hearts Fund was established by loving parents Lynne and Ryan Mazzeo in memory of their daughter and son, Ava and Thomas - two tiny hearts who were lost too soon to congenital heart defects.

MISSION

The mission of the Two Tiny Hearts Fund, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, is to provide funding for much-needed research and support for families of pediatric congenital heart defects.  To date over $120,000 has been raised for the Two Tiny Hearts Fund Trust at Boston Children’s Hospital, which supports families traveling to and residing in Boston in order to receive specialized medical care.
